Exclamation Where do I go from here? possibly stuck in 1757!!!

I've managed to trace my Morley ancestors back to 13th August 1782 where I found the marriage record for my 6x great grandfather Henry Morley to Sarah Gillot at All Saints Parish Church, Rotherham. I know of 3 children they had:
Margaret Morley, born 29th May 1783 and baptised 29th June 1783,
Harriet Morley born 9th November 1785 and baptised 10th December 1785
and William Morley (my 5x great grandfather) born 6th March 1788 and baptised 10th May 1788.

I also found a death record for Henry dated August 1789, buried on 30th August 1789 at St Mary. Greasbro'. Beside his name the word 'Poor' is written, along with 'Abode Scholes'.
I have no idea what he did for a living or why he died so I decided to see if there were any birth records for any Henry Morley's. I looked on familysearch.org and within a possible 30 year span (not knowing how old he was when he married or died) I found a baptism record under the England and Wales, Non-Conformist Record Indexes that said "Henry Morley, son to Ann and Henry, deceased. Witnesses; Mrs Ann. Warwick, John Morley, Jan 6th 1757." The area was Wycliffe, Yorkshire and this could fit as all his decendants lived in or around the Rotherham area for the next 150 years. The date of baptism would also fit with the age he would have been at marriage too.

This is the only record I could find under that name in this or any other area but I don't want to just assume that this is the correct ancestor. I've absolutely no idea where to go from this point and desperately don't want my research to stop here. If you could help me continue my research further I would be extremely grateful.

    Hello Byron 130

You have done well to get back this far, I was brought up to understand that the familysearch site and its predesecor LDS were tobe used for guidance, as you seem to have done. The only way is pouring over the parish recrds, possibly gathering famillies with the same surname together, exploring all options until you have what you consider to be your line,

If you ancestor cliamed PArish Relief it will be recorded in the accounts of the parish, to claim the relief, he needed to have a strong bond with the parish, look at the locality to see what work was being undertaken, farms / large houses = ag labs nad servants, cottage industr's of which ther were probably a lot oif woollen etc!

remember the change fron Julian to Gregorian calendar in 1751/1752 Julian to Gregorian
