George McAvoy Medical Doctor/Surgeon

I have been looking for a George McAvoy Doctor /Surgeon without success he was born around 1804 where ? - he does not appear on any census from 1841 onwards.

He does appear on two of his three sons marriage certs. - Robert Bruce Wallace McAvoy-George Todd Wallace McAvoy - Michael John Todd McAvoy. They do appear on census docs. but state that they were born in Westminister - but I cant find any birth for them either -they lived in the Islington area of London. ANY help that you can give would be greatly appreciated - Tawney

Have you found any of the 'boys' birth's registered within the UK sytem.

I assume the eldest George was b 1838 and is on the 1841 census at

McAVOY Catherine b 1803 ind not in county ( presume means of independent means)
McAVOY George b 1839 not in county

I then find Catherine in 1861 at

McAVOY Catherine 56 ( 1804 ) Ireland
McAVOY Michael 19 ( 1842) Westminster
McAVOY Robert 16 ( 1845 ( Westminster)

Is this Catherine in 1881, if so the answer may lie within the Military or East Indies Trading Company

I'm pretty sure he is James Pallo and Catherine is one of the children's names on the family search, do you have any marraige details for Catherine Snr?

Thank you - but no I have not found any of the boys within the UK system - why put Westminister on census ??
Yes I had found George as a Chemist etc - Robert was a Master Mariner and died in Turkey in 1874 - and Michael not sure .

Seems that Catherine MAY have been born in Ireland as she has that on the census .

Never thought of India - I did think that perhaps as his son Robert was in the Merchant Nany that he may have been a ships doctor - but to date unable to find him .

I do not have any marriage details for Catherine Snr. even on the census she does not state that she is a widow etc. so assume that they married sometime around 1837 - but where ? - if I could get where the boys were born - and a cert. then maybe able to narrow it down abit -

Presumably you have details of the 3 'boys' marriages and census information from those dates.

Why give the children all these names TODD WALLACE, then it appears to follow through in succesive generations!
