    Exclamation Peter Wilson.

    HI Folks,

I am having trouble finding the marriage of my Grt Grt Grt Grt Grandfather, Peter Wilson. He married a lady named Elizabeth sometime around 1782..possibly in Liverpool, Lancashire.
They had 5 children, Peter 1782, Betty 1787, Lydia 1790, Sophia 1792, William 1796. ALL born (christened) in Saint Peter's, Liverpool, Lancashire.
Yet i cannot find a marriage for a Peter Wilson & Elizabeth. Their son Peter was a shipwright...and was one of his sons....and so on all the way to my grt grandfather. Some of thier other sons were also shipwright....So...I am thinking Peter was also possibly a shipwright.....certainly something to do with the navy..or dockyards.
I was also thinking that Peter maybe Scottish....Meaning he marriaged Elizabeth and moved to Liverpool to look for work in the docks..i do not know. BUT!....as it is...I cannot find any sign of a marriage for Peter & Elizabeth...so I am unable to move on.

If you could help, it would be most appreciated.

    Regards
    Paul

    Hello

have you thought of obtaining a copy of the original Parish register on the basis that the Vicar entered the maiden name of the mother

    Speculatively there is this
    spouse:Elizabeth Dalton
marriage:09 Jun 1781 — Saint Mary, Carlisle, Cumberland, England
    record title:England Marriages, 1538–1973
    groom's name:Peter Wilson
    bride's name:Elizabeth Dalton
    marriage date:09 Jun 1781
    marriage place:Saint Mary,Carlisle,Cumberland,Englandindexing project (batch) number:M00486-2system origin:England-ODMsource film number:252816

Quite a few Cumbrians moved to Liverpool around this time

    Thank You Elsabels.....

I would not known how to get an orig copy....I have found that even buying certs dont always tell you what you would expect.
It just seems strange that all the bapts of his children are there to be seen..yet no sign of his marriage...I am hoping to find a link to Scotland as i now live there...and my partner is Scottish...plau Wilson is a Scottish name..as is my grandmothers usrname Johnston...
Both Wilson & Johnston are sept's of Clann Gunn..my adotped Scottish Clann.....but I hope to find a blood link.
I do have links to the Gun name and Scotland in my tree..but not a direct blood link...So am hoping the Wilson line stem from Scotland..
