Thread: Great Great Grandmother

Can anyone out there help please. I am trying to find out the surname and date/place of birth of my G G Grandmother she (at least i assume they were) to Frederick Fisher born in Bradford, Wiltshire in 1839.
Her name is Eliza born approx 1846 in East indies and that is all that i know, i dont know how to find out her surname or where abouts in the East indies or even if she was a british subject. Frederick was in the army but not sure if they went to india or not. If anyone out there can shed any light on it or how i go about finding out i would be very grateful

Fredirick FISHER's Attestation papers are on line at PPV on nationalarchives.gov.uk W097 1956 75

Sadly these records do not contain details of his marriage, or the births of his children, however I note on the 1881 census that 2 of the children have been born in the UK, therefore the birth certificates will carry the information you require, this is not a course of action I advocate often, gro.gov.uk

I have checked the GRO records that are linked to the forces personell and cannot find a marriage, maybe it took place in a civil church, Eliza was born in East Indies and may have been the daughter of an army person who happened to be on a posting where she met Frederick, therefore knowing which marriage recordand country to search is difficult

The first recorded child on the 1881 census was born in the UK.......

I have a feeling that I have already searched the records for this family in connection with another post!
