My 5x great grandfather, Giles Carter b1719 possibly Withersfield, Suffolk, d1803 Roxwell, Essex -
church clerk for 37 yrs at Roxwell, married 1743/44 possibly Roxwell to Love ? possibly Love Allen b1722 Roxwell d1777 Roxwell.
No record of Giles' birth at Roxwell and Parish records missing in mid 1740s so can t confirm marriage place or date.
Of interest a Giles Carter b1702 d. 20/5/1760 Leaden Roothing, Essex (Family Search - Marita Herbert) may possibly be his father BUT an entry by Jim Carter on Family Search shows Giles Carter b1672 Arlingham, Glos d 20/5/1760 Leaden Roothing, Essex.
Could the Carters have moved from Glos to Essex?
I am completely stuck at this point and have been so for 2 years - any help would be amazing.

Hello jimboo welcome to AA good luck with your research.
Have you tried the Hugh Wallis site? if you google it willc - come up with the website. There are Carters at Withersfield and also at Roxwell. Be wary of other peoples trees. - Unless they have proof of something it may be guesswork.
