Hi everyone,
I have hit a brick wall trying to get birth records for my Great Grandfather John F Morahan.
According to his marriage certificate he was born in the year 1855 in Acapulco, Mexico.
His father Robert was born in Ireland and was a cooper by trade, his mother Mary Emily Morahan nee Malden we suspect also born in Ireland.
It appears that John's parents may have been on route by ship to Australia at the time.
John F spent his life on board ships but called Australia home. He died on the 26 December 1912 in the state of Victoria, Australia.
He married a Martha Smith 29 March 1881 in Victoria, Australia and raised a family of eight all born in South Melbourne, Victoria.
Wife Martha a dressmaker was born in Liverpool, England about 1860 and died in Victoria in the year 1917.
I do hope someone can help me in the quest.
