    Default Midlam

Mary Ann Midlam was my maternal grandmother. For about twenty five years I have searched for information about her. I have her marriage certificate. She was married on Christmas Day 1901 In Llandudno and gave her age as 23. My grandfather, Moses Jones, was 22 and I have confirmed all his details and traced his ancestors back four generations. Mary Ann's father was Frederick Midlam.
I can find no trace of Frederick or Mary Ann on any census or in BMD's. My grandmother always celebrated her birthday on 29th February, so I should have been able to limit my searching by 75%, but I've had no success. I have traced Midlams in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lancashire, but cannot find a definite link. HELP !!!

I have merged 2 threads together as they are for the same person

Hi Keihaz - On the face of it the onIy find Frederick MidIim age 1871 age 30 with his famiIy - George as the father - which doesnt tie up. Do you have a definate census Iink that I can move around on that wiII give a possibIe address and county and concrete detaIis. I suspect there is a transcribing error. There are other MidIam but I have no way of knowing they are yours without a bit of IateraI info. Many thanks

    ps Thanks EsabeIs

    Hello

Have you found Moses & Mary Ann on the 1911 census and if so what is her YoB and place of birth

Interesting that she celebrated her birthday on 29th February, once every 4 years so no one would know how old she was?

    1872 /1876 /1880 were the Leap years

Was the marriage by licence or banns?

( We are not permitted to do 1911 look ups due to copyright reasons)

    Hello

Who were the witnesses on the marriage certificate, what is Moses place of birth and where did the couple live later on.....

i am thinking that Mary Ann's mother was widowed and remarried therefore Mary may be on the census under her steo fathers surname

Am desperately seeking information on the birth and family of my maternal grandmother.
Have her marriage certificate - Mary Ann MIDLAM, spinster, aged 23 married Moses JONES,
coach painter, aged 22 at Llandudno parish church on 25th December 1901.
Her father according to certificate was Frederick MIDLAM, farmer.
I cannot find any record of her birth, and cannot find her in any census.
Have been looking for what seems a lifetime --- HELP please.

I too cannot find any birth or census info. Do you think she could have been born out of the Country? unlikely if he gives his occupation as Farmer though. He may not have registered her birth. Although it did become legal sometime in the 1870's some people seem to have missed it..Perhaps some pages are missing from the birth index. The same with the census. There are pages missing from some census. Some people for one reason or another never appeared on the census. some did not trust it and some simply missed it. If you knew if she was christened and where you could look at these records at local archives/records offices. Another thought - could the name have been mistranscribed?
