What happened to Ben Armitage b1846

Ben Armitage b1846 in Austonley, Holmfirth, W Yorks. son of Thomas and Sarah, married Eliza Jane Mellor in 1869. Moved to Bradford with family. Successful woollen carding overlooker in 1881.
Missing from !891 Census along with daughter Hannah Maria b1881.
Neither can be traced in UK. Checked all deaths for both names and Marriages for(Hannah Maria). None fit these two.
One family member says, the story is that 'Ben went to America'.
Checked and still checking sailing records to America, Canada and the 1900 USA census but without success. Can anyone help?

Yes this is the family Elaine.
Eliza became Elizabeth and says she is a widow. So where's the death cert?
She reverted to Eliza Jane, Married, in 1901.
Albert Herman's Birth cert names Ben as the father. The bith was recorded by Eliza 6 weeks after the birth.
I have the death cert 9b 119. It isn't her. (Nor is a marriage to Bennett her)
Yes Elsabels that is Ben born 1846.

I keep searching; presently looking in Canada/USA. There was a Thos Armitage b1846 (Ben's birth year) emigrated to Canada in 1883 who I have been looking at but he too disappeared; he wasn't in the Canadian 1900 census. He probably went over to the USA.
There was a Benjamin Armitage went to prison, for wounding I think, who I haven't followed up. Doesn't sound like our Ben but-----.
It's just an ongoing search. Somebody, somewhere may have a GGF they can't fathom one day.
