Thread: Ranft family - dover, u.k.

My Ranft family lived in Dover (1860-1910) and while I have connected with a couple of people who are descendant from that family, I still have a brick wall regarding their connection with other Ranft families in the U.K. (specifically Wales and Durham) and where they are from in Germany.

They were:

Henry Ranft (d 1887) & Louisa Schmidt (d 1904) and their children:

Harriet (b 1876)

Working back through the various census returns in 1871 Henry and Louisa are both stated as born Frankfurt Germany Henry is a musician.

Do you have your family details from the 1861 - 1901 cenus?

The Welsh RANFT familly appear to be from William RANFT b 1814 Germany desc on one census as a musician, at one time living in Neath Glamorgan, the sons of this family seems to move to Prescot Widnes Lancashire and Durham
