I am still unable to access any info re the parents of a Gt Grandfather born in Kirkcudbright Scotland in 1828--his first mention being on the 1941 census aged 12 not with his parents. I know most about the rest of his life through census returns etc.,and I feel the only person who may know word of mouth about his parents is either a Graham or a Moffat-- descendents who stayed in Scotland. Gt Grandfathers name was John Martindale (on his gravestone in Corriehills Dumf. his middle name is Anderson--the name of the couple he lived with in 1941--he also gave the middle name to his youngest son.) I have traced all John Martindale's children except the Grahams. John William Graham married his daughter Eliza Martindale and they had children, so am hoping to find them on the 1911 census for Scotland ( in Dalton Dumfriesshire.) Just thought I would put this out on the line again in case there are any new subscribers since last time I tried.
