Red face George frederick shorter: coffee shop owner

    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has a old photo of my great great grandfather george frederick shorter who owned a temperance shop in Highgate. (its going back a bit)
I have got old photo of shop around 1889 when victoria was about, as the shop has got VR on the front of shop.
He married Margaret Rachael mackeness and had several children, 4 boys and 3 girls i think.
After rachael died he married Leah Eames in 1909 and they only had 2 girls. 1 died, and is buried with mother and other relitives of the family at highgate old cremetary.
I have asked other people at Highgate History in highgate itself, but come up with nothing.
    Please, please, can someone help......
George frederick shorter died 1925 holloway, hospital
I just wanted to find out who he really looked like either me or one of the family and a picture would help a lot, so if anyone could help i would be so gratefull.

Hiya Alisonjane ,Maybe the local studies library might have a photo of him ,or try the Highgate local newspapers . Have you asked older relatives if they have any old photos of the family ? looked on census and it seems that his second wife was once his servant !

I have a highgate book at home that mensions his temperance rooms and a picture of his shop, but not with him ouside of it.
My mum has been down to highgate with her sister who has since died and seen the photo and have asked about having a copy of it, and they just say they now nolonger have it. Its like going round and around from one to another. All this stems from her side of the family and it would be nice for me being the only one in the family that wants to know about all our ancestors and doing the family tree.
All the rest dont either care or there too young too understand.
