Dear Ancestry Aid,
My 5 x great grandparent Richard Phillips married a Frances. Their first child was born in Nettlebed in 1766. This child and all the others are recorded in the Nettlebed parish registers. Their wedding is not however and I have never managed to find it! I have purchased many of the Oxfordshire Family History parish CDs for the areas around Nettlebed and not found the marriage.
I was just rechecking the IGI when I found the following entry:
Richard Phillips
Marriage: 25 JUL 1758 Wargrove, , Berkshire, England
Now I assume that this marriage is in Wargrave. Wargrave is about 8 miles from Nettlebed.
Richard would be 17/18 at this time, his wife Frances would be about 24.
Frustratingly the IGI entry does not have a wife for Richard! I can't believe that a marriage would be listed without a partner! Maybe the entry has been damaged? Maybe there is a reference to where the Richard was born (ie hopefully Nettlebed!!).
Anyway, I keep getting drawn to this entry, but I am living in Devon and can't get to the Berkshire records office to check!!
If any of you kind folk are visiting the Berks office or have access to the Wargrave records I would be so grateful if you could check for this marriage in 1758.
Thanks for reading this, Neil.
