    Default Reaearching Perkins

Can anyone help please I am looking for Samuel Perkins born 1807. The census of march 1850 gave thehis wife's name as Thomas ( thomasina?) the number for that census is C 59. Samuel Christopher was a family name so each generation has one which is confusing .

Do you have a rough location where Samuel was born? I've found several, all over the UK in 1807.

    Hi Bubbles.

Just to assist forum members - is this the Samuel Perkins resident at 2 Eagle Court, Holborn, London, in 1851?
Possibly born Sheerness, Kent, circa 1807?

    Class: HO107; Piece: 1513; Folio: 454; Page: 48 refers.

Sorry, obviously that should be born 6 Mar 1815, and baptised 4 May 1815!

    Hallo Finbar
yes indeed that is the right Samuel Perkins, That is as far as I have got to so far. The link is always the occupation , the all were something to do with copper from braziers to tinplate orjkers and coppersmiths, later part of th family became jewellers dealing with gold.

    Hi Bubbles.

The London Gazette shows a Samuel Perkins Tinman and Brazier, late of Eagle St Holborn, appearing before a Debtor's Court on 5th February 1844, apparently for discharge from the Debtor's Prison for London and Middlesex. A notice dated 3rd January 1844 may also be found relating to him.

If you go to the link below and search the appropriate timeframe using the keywords 'Perkins' and 'tinman', you should find the information.

Further to the above - the 1851 census entry for Samuel Perkins on that well known subscription site A****** would appear to be connected to the following entry in Pallot's Marriage Index :-

Samuel Perkins married Frances Martin, St Giles in the Fields, London in 1830 (no exact date given).

I appreciate this doesn't explain his wife being shown as Thomas/Thomasina on the census (enumerator's error?), but perhaps worth bearing in mind.

Free BMD Deaths - September quarter 1852 - Samuel Christopher Perkins - St Giles Reg. Dist. (London) - Vol. 1b Page 194 refers.

There is also a burial record for a Samuel Perkins 49 yrs, buried at St Andrew's, Holborn, 10th October 1852 - a slight chance they may be one and the same.

Hi Yes Thank you--There seem to be at least three Samual Christopher Perkins, also Joseph seems to be a family name. I can go back to C1800 all born in Londo,n drifting to the norht of London; Islington and beginning in St Pancras.
I would really love to find where they came from before that, the occupation was always in metal ;coppersmiths and tin plate workers, so Shropshire maybe???
