Frederick W Hobdell

Hi everyone,
According to the 1881 census, Frederick W Hobdell is 32 years of age, is married to Mary Ann, and they have six children; Frederick, Joseph, Elizabeth, Arthur, Charles and Phoebe.

In the 1891 census, there is a Frederick Hobdell, aged 42, who is married to Elizabeth; children are Frederick, Elizabeth, Arthur and Charles all ten years older than the 1881 census. There are also four more children born after 1881.

How can I confirm that these entries are for the same Frederick Hobdell?

I found a death notice for Joseph (1885), but cannot find similar notices for Mary Ann or Phoebe.

Even assuming Mary Ann was divorced, I cannot find a marriage notice for Elizabeth.

Could anyone help with information on Mary Ann, Elizabeth and/or Phoebe?

have you checked 1901 to see the name of wife? sometimes the enumerator gets it wrong or it is changed in the transcription.
have you found the marriage record for the hobdells?
they are not in erith kent are they?

Looking at the birth places, am assuming he married again.
I listed the children and only Phoebe and Alice are born the 'same time' so as I can see the children all follow each other and he could have married twice I haven't found any BMD's to help yet.
Am assuming it's the family at 21 Brooks Road 1891

Ideally looking at 1901 for the same family, it might be worth buying the last son's birth certifcate giving the mother's maiden name
