    Exclamation CAMPBELL - N.IRELAND

    CAMPBELL - N.IRELAND
Here is a trickier brickwall for me -not least of all because it is Ireland......
Robert CAMPBELL - born c. 1875/6 Ballynahinch, Co Down, N.Ireland - can't find birth. ( Parents John Campbell b. 1844 and Ellen McCarthy b. 1854 - both Co Down, N.Ireland.) Robert died 28 Dec 1939 Royal Victoria hospital, Belfast; was Inspector Of Cinemas, Belfast Corporation. Married - wife always known as 'Birdie' in the family so cannot find marriage details! Had 2 children - again cannot find. Too many Robert Campbells in census etc. but none fit the bill exactly (would be Protestant; some found are Catholic/wrong age, etc.) Also his sister Eva, born 21 Aug 1886 Ballynahinch, Co Down, N.Ireland - no further info on censuses, marriages, deaths or passenger info on ships - she just disappears! Again, any help much appreciated!
    Many thanks,
    Leona

    Hi Leona!

Don't know if it helpful for you to trace Marriage cert but Birdie is a "familiar" name for Bertha!

I have a Charlotte Campbell in my family who came from Lincolnshire,I have not traced her back yet but I bekieve she came from Scotland and travelled looking for work, perhaps after the "displacements"? So Scotland might ne a place for you to try ( needles in haystacks!!)

Hi - have your tried searching the Irish Family History Foundation -- free to join but pay to view. I don't have enough credits to check out these results Birth Death Marriage Genealogy Records Ireland - Irish Family History Foundation

There are 2 Robert Campbells - Robert Watson Campbell, civil death in 1939, and Robert Campbell, civil death in 1938.

If you have the details, vol and page, you can order a research copy of the death cert for 4 euros at
The General Register Office - Apply for a Cert. It is a photocopy of the long form, just not certified. A certified copy costs more. Having the death cert would give you the name of the informant, presumably his wife.
