Hello, I find this a very nice idea too. Hope you can help me with my brick wall. Grandma is known as Emmie, her maiden name was ARMITAGE. According to her death certificate she must have been born around 1873 in Huddersfield. She went to the USA, don't know when, and married Jerome GAREAUX, don't know when or where. But it is possibly in either Massachussets or Rhode Island, and before 1903, when I found her mentioned as Emmie Gareaux in someone elses deathcertificate. They had their first child in Rhode Island, but he died soon after birth, and three more daughters in Worcester, Massachussets, where Jerome disappeared. (found him again in the 1920 and 1930 census, married to someone else, in Rhode Island, he was a house painter). Emmie came back to Yorkshire in 1923, where she died in 1932.
Looking at the births in Huddersfield she could be Emma, Emily, or Emma Jane, and there are too many of them. I have been looking for the marriage of Emmie and Jerome in the hope of finding more details.
Really hope someone can help.

Yes, thanks, that was something that threw me originally, since he married Florence before Emmie's death, and without divorce.

That more or less sums up what I know. The top two deaths are the ones I mention in my request, Alva is the son who dies soon after birth. But without finding the marriage certificate it has turned out impossible to find out Emmie's birthdate, or Jerome's parents. Her birthdate varies too much in all these details, and there are too many Emma's born in Huddersfield to decide which one is the right one. It sums up why this is a brick wall to me.

Going back to #5 the census, there is a reference to a Mary ARMITAGE aged 56 wife and dau Emma ARMITAGE 20 spinster arriving on the KENSINGTON in Liverpool 03/10/1894departure Pennsylvannia
