I'm helping someone who isn't online, and we have several brick walls. this is one (as an aside, this poor lady has 3 branches of Smith's in her tree-thank god she doesn't have Browns and Jones's as well!)
here is one of the brick walls, an American one;

m. 1st 17 May 1840 Lorain Co., OH to Thirza/Eliza H. Parker, 2nd 12 Oct 1848 Wayne Co., MI to Charlotte Ransom

we can find nothing on Thirza/Eliza Parker. Charlotte's lineage has been fairly well researched, as has Jonathan's with one major exception. we don't know which set of brother's is his father. there is only one set of Hudson's in Berks Co. at the time of his birth. of these Hudsons, of which there are many and all related, there are a group of 4 brothers, Nicholas b. abt 1773-d. abt 1851 m. Rachel Lewis, Jacob b. abt 1772-d. in Aug 1832 m. Elizabeth Porter, Jonathan b. 30 Mar 1781 Morgantown, Berks, PA-d. 13 May 1820 Berks, m. Sarah Williams and George b. 16 Nov 1785 prob. Morgantown-d. 14 Nov 1864 Crawford Co., OH m. Anna Williams. Sarah and Anna were sisters.

I can be 99% certain it is not George and Anna. they had their own Jonathan, but his middle name was Price and he is traced and documented quite well and does not follow Jonathan L.'s profile.

Jno. and Thirza/Eliza had one child, Henry J. b. abt the same year Jno. m. Charlotte (probably a year's difference, but going on what extant census records state). Jno. left Henry J. with his uncle George until abt 1860 when he shows up with Jno. and Charlotte in the MI census.

Jno. and Charlotte had 5 known children.

Alice G. (C?) Hudson b. abt 1858

for those unfamiliar with the area, this is generally called the "down river" area of MI, and they are notorious for failing to record practically anything until quite late, even though people were there from fairly early on.

although there are many questions remaining with this family, we would like to know who Jonathan's parents were most of all.
