Thread: George Isaac Burnand - Parkhurst Boy

Hi

My 3 x great grandfather George Isaac Burnand was born 1827 Whitby England, His brother Thomas was born 1826. Info given to me states parents are Thomas 1801 and Elizabeth Millar 1805 married 20/12/1826 Whitby. I do not have anything else on parents.

Both George Isaac and Thomas jnr were sentenced in the North Allerton Court in 1839 and sent to Parkhurst Prison and from there were deported to New Zealand in 1842.

I would be grateful for any info on parents or any siblings.

A fairly uncommon surname.

A Thomas Burnand appeared before York Assizes in July 1821, and was sentenced to six months imprisonment for Procuring base coins to utter.
No age is given for him, but I wonder if this could be the father?

If you check the IGI just using the surname Burnand, and completing the region boxes with 'British Isles', 'England' and 'Yorkshire', quite a few names crop up which may be of interest.

Interesting, could well be the father, after long searches havent been able to find any trace of parents. Could they too have been deported for crimes. I am not 100% sure the parents info is correct as no birth/marriage certs were passed on to me.
