Thread: B W TIndall

There is a baptism on the familysearchbeta site which shows a baptism for B W Tindall 12 Dec 1773 St James Westminster.Parents were Thomas and Frances.Really weird to see initials used and even stranger to see that the date is the same date as the birth of William Tindall-same parents.I ordered the film and had a look only to find that Aug-Dec 1773 not on that particular film.So where did the entry come from?

It may depend which film record was ordered...there are 2 sets:

1) the Parish Register,records written ( well so we believe) at the time of the event in the parish....... these can invariable include local notes like who the Viar thinks is the father of a baseborn child ( illeg child)

2)Bishops Transcripts, a copy of the parish register prepared annually for forwarding to the Bishops Office/Palace indicating what events have taken place in the Church in the preceding year! NO local notes.

I think in your case it is the original source ( PR) that has been digitalised and the vicar has noted B W TINDALL 12/12/1773 in the register, maybe as an aide memoire, the child baptised next month!

My surprise was not finding the entry on the indicated film.If it was an a.m. for the birth why then is it shown as a baptism and what does B W stand for? PS- You are up late
