hi , what a marvalous idea!, please please help!!! my problem is my grt grand parents, his name Charles Rowe some times ROE?? b 1822 23 . [on censes of surrey it said born in St Albans ? ] that is the first problem? and Ann,?Anna? Hannah Ahern b abt 1821 Cork ireland [on the surrey census ] cant find any info on their birth places , cant find any marriage of them. They had a son Charles Rowe b 1866 surrey Married to Emily Fuller, b 1863 surrey, that i know for certain. i found many charles Rowe! Roe! in Devon about the same age, but because of the ST albans birth i am stuck, PS many thanks to Jon who helped me with loggin in etc. i am longing to find all the ancestors of my grt grang parents, fingers crossd XXXXX mandy60000

do you have charles 1866 birth cert or if not where does the hannah aherne come from

there is a hannah aherne marrying 1866 but it is not to charles rowe.

; RG11; Piece 826; Folio 127 page13. But on their sons Charles Rowe b 1866 b cert. Ref 135 father Charles [spelt ROE] ocupation carter, .mother Ann [ROE] ? formerly Ann Ahern,? there is also a grave in woodmansterne Surrey named as Hannah Rowe??so you see it is so difficult to follow further ancestors of both sides. please could you follow it thu for me? bless all you helpers mandy 6000O xx

I cannot find a marriage for Charles & Hanah but then it is difficult to know which area to look in, maybe the i one insatnce where you need to purchase the 1866 birth certificate to establish
whether the parents were married or not!

Speculatively

I can find on the 1861 census a Charles Rowe, birth 1831 b Wheathamstead, Hertfordshire who happens to be desc as a Shepherd ( his son Charles was a shepherd) RG9 827
BUT he has a wife and 4 small children

Thanks Elsabels, yes i have the b cert of Charles Rowe b 1866, i mentioned in my last post the father was named as Charles ROE not Rowe, and mother Ann Roe maiden name given as Ann A hern, so yes they must be married? it is in the census forms the names are Charles Rowe a nd hannah ROWE , but we have always known the surname as Rowe., so where to go now?? thanks so much for your time, xx

elsabels - i had seen that one and for a while thought it might be a good line to follow but they are on the 1871 census still together and in same place when OP charles is with his parents in croydon
