Hi - I am trying to trace where my gg grandfather James Souter was born (should have been born around 1806) and who his parents were - He was one of the first Bobbies and joined L (Lambeth) Division on 08/02/1830 and was promoted Sergeant on 19/05/1840. Warrant Number 2431. He married Mary Ann Hutson 1832 and died of Cholera in 1849. I am stuck at this point and cannot trace my lineage back any further. - Can anyone help?
I have found a public tree with same information as yours - Born 17th June 1801 bp 25 dec 1801@Cockfield Suffolk parents James Souterb.1773 and Martha Crick b1775 ,
James Sr. was born Cockfield 1773 bp 1775 Alpheton, aged 2
married Martha Crick
Married at St Peter's on the 21st of February 1801 Cockfield
1851 living -Clerkenwell, Middlesex, England Living at 7, St Helena Close,Findsbury,London
Son James [ policeman ] death was
Kennington,London, England Died on the12th of September 1849, Place death 16 Regency Square Kennington London
Is this correct if so you could then follow further back

possible child of that marraige died young

james and mary born out of county . children all born in county
unfortunately thought the parents being james and martha (crick) might well be right i cannot see any proof on the records yet.
