Default Lost!! GGG Grandfather - Thomas Henry Pearson

Hi - I am trying to find further info on my 3 x great grandfather , he apparently was born in Lincolnshire, England, but some confusion as to exact location. Born about 1834 going by Registration of Deaths Certificate. I have yet to find the ship that he arrived in New Zealand on but have been told it was on the Cressy in Otago, in September 1861. But I am not sure that is correct as the Cressy was one of the first four ships into Canterbury. Thomas was supposedly married in Ross, Westland, New Zealand in 1865, but I have not been able to track down any marriage information anywhere not even on the NZ BDM website. This marriage date and location has been obtained on several of their children's birth certificates, he was married to Ellen Trow. who arrived in New Zealand on the Captain Cook into Canterbury in September 1863.
So was hoping that maybe someone else may be able to point me in the right direction as I havent had any success with what I have been trying to do to find him.On several of Thomas and Ellen's children's birth certificates the date has been stated as 24th May 1865 Ross, Westland, NZ, I did see that one on familysearch.org too. I have here a marriage disc that was put out by the NZSG of all the marriages in New Zealand up to 1956, but have not been able to find Thomas and Ellen's marriage on that. I have also researched on the NZ BDM website and have not been able to find anything on that either

    UPDATE

My Ellen Trow was born on 22nd March 1843 but her parents are Richard and Sarah - I have here in my possession a piece of paper that was written by one of her daughters with all Ellen's siblings names on so I have been able to track down them to the parents who are Richard Trow and Sarah Hayley I got this information from the FHC in Christchurch quite some years ago.

Ellen was married in England to a William Higgins before she emigrated to New Zealand, in 1863. I have not yet been able to find out what happened to William. I did look for marriage between Thomas Pearson and Ellen Higgins but have not been able to find that either.

On the death certificate I have here for Thomas Pearson as below it has his parents but whether that is right or not is another question, as I have never been able to locate any birth anywhere for such child with those parents. In my papers that I obtained after my grandmothers death, and from another relative, they have said that Thomas was born on 4th November.

Thomas died on 21st August 1898,
    at death he was 64,
his parents are Thomas Pearson and Charlotte Pope (occupation - farmer)
Born Lincolnshire, how long in New Zealand 37 years
Where married - Ross, Westland, NZ
at what age married - 33years
To whom married - Ellen Pearson formerly Trow

Thanks for this Elaine, I have now been through all these looking for Thomas Pearson and Charlotte marriage, and found it in 1840, but it was a different surname for Charlotte, so went through the whole lot to check for any other possible Charlottes, didnt find any.

So presumably this would be the correct parents for Thomas Henry Pearson , so now need to try and find christening information to tie this in, in which case we must have wrong age for Thomas on the death certificate????

where abouts is this area in regards to Gainsborough?

Is there a Bootle or Boothby close by? as those are the names of the places that we were told that THP was born

    Hi Blue Merle.

Woolsthorpe is near Grantham, about 70 or 80 miles south of Gainsborough.
