Thread: John Evitt Blackman, Dartford, Kent, England - born 3 Nov 1857

John Evitt is my great grandfather. He was born in the Union Workhouse, Dartford, Kent (Birth certificate to prove it).
His mother's name was Jane Blackman, and she died in 1859 (4th quarter) Dartford, Kent.
I have been unable to find her parents, for sure, because I do not have her birthdate. I believe she may be a Jane Blasckman, born 1829, Longfield, Kent to John & Jane Blackman.
My reasoning for this is that I have a letter from Rev Rutland Griffin, The Vicarage, Dartford, Kent, stating that there was a baptism on 8 Apr 1860 for John son of John & Jane Blackman of Spital Street, Dartford.
Since Jane was not alive in 1960, I can only assume that these are her parents. Longfield, is actually in Dartford. There was a Jane born in 1836, Dartford, as well (which is closer to the age I had imagined for her. Also a Jane born in 1839 in Kingsdown (now West Kingsdown,) Kent.

John Evitt was brought up by a Thomas and Mary Ann Hart, from the time he was very young. I don't know if Mary Ann was related to Jane, or just a friend. I believe her name was Stevens before she married.
Any help you can give me would be very helpful. I have been searching for years. Thank you.

The 1861 censusRG9 has a Fanny STEVENS living with the HART's and John BLACKMAN who is desc as a boarder

I think you need to get the death certificate to enable you to move back
