Hi - I thought I had posted this message yesterday but appears to have failed so here is my 2nd attempt!
My brickwall concerns my GG Grandfather, Washington CUNNINGHAM, born approx 1835. We know from his marriage cert that he married Margaret CREEN in 1856 in Liverpool. His occupation is given as Mariner and his father's name is given as George Cunningham, ship's carpenter. (Margaret's father is given as Robert Creen, stonemason).
From Christening records we know Washington and Margaret had 3 daughters while living in Liverpool - Mary Melissa b.1857, Sarah Jane b.1860 and Margaret b.1862. A 4th daughter, my G Grandmother Catherine Rebecca was born 1864 in N. Ireland (Strangford?). A son, James Robert, was born in 1871 in Ballyculter, N. Ireland. We have speculated that perhaps Margaret originally came from the Ballyculter area. I have been unable to find the family on any censuses.
We know from Catherine's marriage certificate that Washington Cunningham (occupation given as Master Mariner) was deceased by 1896. After that, the trail goes cold so I would be extremely grateful for any info or leads.
Many thanks
Karen
