John James Valentine
I love this idea - it's going to be a boon for a great many people & could spread to other sites so I think you should have copyrighted the idea!!
My brick wall is John James Valentine. I've got him born in London (according to all the censuses & his marriage cert) in 1862. The 1871 census has him in 4 Calverley Street, Mile End Old Town, London with his dad John, a widower who was apparently born in Germany in approx. 1824. In 1881 we have our man in 3 Zion Square, London, still living with his dad & working as a brass polisher, but by 1889 he's living at 23 Carlton Street, Prescot, Lancs when he gets married to Annie Earle. The marriage cert says his dad is dead ( so he died sometime between 1881 & 1889).
In 1901 he's living at 19 Cook Street, Prescot ( Lancs) and working as a labourer at the BICC cable works. By 1911 he's still labouring there & has moved to 35 Derby Street with his family. He dies in 1932 at Whiston Hospital, Merseyside.
What I can't find is his birth registered anywhere to locate his mothers name from the birth cert, and his fathers birth or death, which could have happened in London or Prescot. I of course realise that, as his dad was supposed to be German, his names could have been different, e.g. Johann Valentin, but I'm just getting nowhere with this after 2 years trying.
Any help would be very much appreciated by John juniors grand-daughter, my mother-in-law.
