I would like help with my brick wall. I am looking for my Great Grandmother. Her name was Alice Mary Wyatt who was born in St Giles, London in 1882. In 1901 she married Edmund Payne (the famous Gaiety Theatre actor/comedian). Together they had three children, my grandmother Mary being one of them. In 1914 Edmund Payne died and after that I don't know when she died or if she remarried. She was only 32 when she was widowed. They were living in North London when he died. My father who was born in 1936 cannot remember her. Sadly he died three months ago so if he had anymore information it's gone with him. When she was widowed she was left a huge amount of money in Edmund's will plus property all over the place. I just want to know what happened to her. Can anyone help. Many many thanks.

Although it sounds as though you may have this info, will post it in case it may be of help:-

Edmund James Payne, died 1st July 1914, Hampstead.
Probate granted 29th July to John Arthur Shillito, Thomas Julius, and Alice Mary Payne (Widow).

Effects: £21657 10s 8d.

Thanks so much for the replys on my brick wall. Thanks Noggin28, I've got all that info. Mary - born 1902 was my grandmother. Also thanks Finbar. I went to the Probate Office in London and obtained a copy of his will. It makes very interesting reading. He had shares in various theatre's and also shares in Gamage Dept Stores in Holborn in London. I just cant seem to find out what happened to Alice. It's such a shame that I was not interested in family history year's ago when my Nan was alive. Also Edmund was married twice. His first wife Emily died in 1899 so Alice and Harry were from his first marriage. I will keep searching. It must be out there somewhere. Best wishes everyone.
