Thread: Eliza Wright.

My Brick-wall is my G G Grandmother Eliza Wright.
She immigrated to Victoria, Australia in 1864, married the same year, had 11 children over 23 years, two husbands!
Searching for information on Eliza has not been easy, she gave a different age every time she was asked, so the birth year is very unsure.
On the passage out she claimed to be 18 years old, 19 years old when arriving in Victoria, giving her a birth year of 1845.
For now I'm settling with this year, but have found no Eliza Wright in the UK with parents Charles Wright and Eliza Brown.
On the three certificates where Eliza lists her parents she has father, Charles Wright (Engineer) and mother Eliza Brown two times and Esther Brown on the other.
She said she was born in London and that's all I have.

Hi Terrence,

There is a Charles Wright marrying an Esther Brown in Kent England its on the familysearch.org site. There is also a Charles & Esther Wright on the 1851 census, living in Kent, that have a daughter named Eliza, she was born about 1847. Could this be them?

If you go through births between 1844-1850 for Eliza Wright , there is a few to choose from.

Thank you so much, wow..this could well be them, I'll need to follow the family over the census years and try and see if their Eliza stayed on in UK.
Although on one of the certificates she states her mothers name was Esther Brown, she didn't name any of her daughters Esther.
Elizabeth was her mothers name on two different certificates and she named her first daughter Catherine Elizabeth, the the next Eliza Emma.

Are the couple at St Andrew's the same couple? If so this has to be them! This Nathaniel Charles Wright was a widower, this is interesting!

Could they be the same family again in Streatham ?? I'm sure I've already researched this family and this Eliza married in the Streatham area, so not my Eliza!!!

Elsabels has found another marriage, but it looks like the same couple?? I little confusing.
I have ordered the marriage certificate of the Bethnal Green couple already.
Now I need to find a daughter the the above couple born around the same time as their marriage!!

The marriage at #3 1846 is the one shown at #7 and you would only get a copy of what is on line in the parish register and as transcribed, I was trying to save you £9.25!.....what you need to find is the LICENCE, most marriages are held following the reading of the Banns!

The Licences will probably be at the LMA cityoflondon.gov.uk e mail them to see if they have and what the copy & postage will be!
