    Exclamation John Brodigan

Trying to find out where my G G Grandfather was born. His name was John Brodigan and he was born in 1848 and he died 1/3/1910 in Aberystwyth.
He married Martha Jones in Aberystwyth on 20/5/1877 and on the wedding cert his occupation is mariner, his father is also John Brodigan and his occupation is carpenter.
He does not appear on any census records but I have found him on two crew lists, on one his place of birth is given as Aberystwyth this is incorrect and on the other it is given as Keil.
I have been looking in Ireland for him but there is no trace. I would be grateful if you could solve this mystery for me its driving me mad.

    Hi Vienna.

Given that most references to John Brodigan state him to be born 'about 1848' a 5 year discrepancy might not be too far out. Could this be him?

John Brodigan born Jan/Mar quarter 1843, Liverpool Reg. Dist. Vol. 20 Page 300 refers.

Interesting that Liverpool has very strong Welsh, Irish and maritime links, as he also does.

    Hi Beth,
Just got your message. My great grandfather was Thomas Brodigan, Dora's brother. My grandmother was Alice Dora Brodigan, she must have been your grandmother's cousin. Thomas and Dora had an older brother John and a younger brother Richard (who I see is living with Dora on the 1911 census!)
    Lovely to hear from you,
    Regards Shan
