Wonder if you could help am trying to trace back my Colley ancestors, have got back to John Colley who was born in 1776 & lived in Clarence Street, Portsmouth & was married to Elizabeth Reed, have hit a brick wall can't get any more information, would appreciate some help please.

Do you have a copy of the Parish Register for the marriage entry of John COLLEY = Elizabeth REED at Alverstoke 1807, presumably this is by Banns and have you found the death certificate?
I would be inclined to look in the Alverstock area first!
Check with the lol record Office to ensure all the records have been digitalised by the LDS, if not you will need ot look at them!

I wonder if your John might have been the son of John Colley and Jane?
There are a few Baptisms found for Portsmouth for the surname of Colley around this time your John Colley was born give or take a few years..
18th November 1787 Mary Colley daughter of John Colley and Jane..Saint Thomas Portsmouth Hampshire as the Christening/Baptism place.
21st October 1795 Elizabeth Colley daughter of John and Jane..Saint Thomas Portsmouth Hampshire.........
27 February 1780 James Colley son of John and Jane.....Saint Thomas...
24th August 1783 Jane Colley daughter of John and Jane.....Saint Thomas....
1st January 1792 Harriet Colley daughter of John and Jane..Saint Thomas
Found a marriage for James Colley 6th December 1807 to a Mary Ann Block..Same church as above for the Baptisms..
20 January 1805 a Jane Colley marries a William Weir...Same Church
These Colley,s have to be related...There is a Baptism for Mary Colley daughter of Alexander and Mary 22 April 1799 for the same church..I wonder if Alexander could have been the brother of John who ties in with Jane for the first lot of Baptisms..
Another Baptism for Alexander and Mary...James Colley 30th October 1796..Same church
