Default 1871 Census for County Durham

Is anyone able to look up an entry on the 1871 census for the village of FENCEHOUSES in the parish of Houghton-Le-Spring. Co. Durham?
Iam looking for a family living there by the name of MURDY( could be misspelt-Mordy). A son was born to them in 1871( maybe after the census was taken ) but the parents names would help me.
Would be very grateful if anyone has the time to search.

    Hello

The 1871 census is difficult to search using just am address, please post the forename(s) of the person you are looking for together with the year of birth or reasonable guesstimate and palce of birth.

These sites may help you in searching for the child b 1871

    Freebmd.org.uk or this northeastbmd.org.uk

Thank you Hazelnut and Elsabels for replying.
The child may not have been born before the census was taken. The name is Edward. This Edward has been put on our Family tree by a member ( of the family) and I don't believe it is correct. I believe our Edward to have been born a couple of miles away but finding a family in this village with this name would help me prove the entry is wrong. I suppose he would be there in 1881, will look.
Couldn't find my thread on FTF. realised , it is here on AA. They are both so similar!!!

    Thank you banditfivealive!,
This is my family but I believe there is another Edward born around the same time a couple of miles away, in FenceHouses to another family. The second one and his decendants have been put on our Tree but he dies in 1903 and the family story(in our family ) is that ours goes to Australia. I am trying to establish who the second Edward belongs to ( his parents). Obviously not on- line. Looks like I shall have to go to the Records Office to see for myself.
    Thanks for your interest,
    Regards,
    BigOoms.

    Hello BigOoms

I can only find one registration for the birth a EDWARD MURDY q2 ( registrations tail end of March - 30 June )1871 Chester le Street 10a 517 ( that is between 1860 - 1875 general UK search)

The 1871 census date was 02/04/1871 so it is unlikely that this EDWARD would appear on that census

The only Edward I can find on the Census returns are:

    the one mentioned above 1881
    1891 RG12 41336 51 45 with his widowed mother Sarah,
    1901 RG13 4641 130 with wife catherine Matilda and Edward S & May
    Death
    1903 Edward MURDY aged 32 q2 Harlepool 10A 84
    1906 Catherine Matilda MURDY = Frederick TOMKINS q1 1906 Hartlepool 10a 165

Can you tell us of the EDWARD MURDY who you think is your ancestor

    Hi Elsabels
The 1881 and 91 living with his widowed mother is definitely mine. I have spoken with a couple of 86 year olds in the family and heard the story of a pocket watch being sold to an older brother to raise money , presumably for a trip to Australia. If he had married Catherine Stanley , had 4 children ( 2 died young) then left them this would have been quite a scandel and been noted in the family. The fact that he ( Edward2 ) dies in 1903 doesn't ring true as we have a suspecion the other Edward goes on to have atleast 6 children in Australia.
    Thanks for your interest.
    Regards,
    Big Ooms.
