I have a problem with my Grandfather James Brown born 1855 in Liverpool
He was married twice
The first time as James Brown on 16th Oct 1875 in Leeds to Elizabeth Ann Sanderson stating his father was Andrew Brown a Brass Finisher and
the second time as James Anderson Brown on 2 May 1888 in County Durham to Margaret Foster stating his father was Anderson Brown a Glass Finisher.
Trying to go to James's parents the closest I can get is in the 1861 census. An Andrew Brown, a brass finisher, is living in Manchester, and has a son born in Liverpool in 1855. The only problem is that the son is called Andrew and not James. As James was fairly cavalier with forenames, what is the chance of him changing it from Andrew to James and how can I prove it?. By this time his father had died so it wasn't to avoid confusion.
