    Exclamation John William McKenna

    Hi
What a brilliant Idea!! My Brickwall is quite close to us regarding what we can research in these days !! However my Grandfather on my Fathers side is a mystery that we would so love to find out, His Name John William McKenna b 1881c , All of my living cousins, around 23 of us also know nothing except that he came from Northern Ireland with his mother, to Cobh in Southern Ireland!! the Year not known but possibly 1914 or thereabouts.
He married a local girl of Cobh, Cork, Marjorie Burke b 1883 c, Her Maiden name was Nash, They Married in the Beautiful Colmans Cathederal in Cobh around 1915/16.
The start of their Family was Twins (My Father , also a John William McKenna, and Twin, Mary Zeta McKenna were born in Albert Terrace , Cobh) the Burke Family Married into the Nash Family, Quite well known in Cobh as they produced a Harbour Pilot in every Generation , going back to 1748, another bit of useless information, i'll try and get back online!!
John William McKenna b 1881 c was among other things a Pork Butcher in Cobh, his family then started to get larger, next child Beth (died approx 1925) James b 1921, , It was around this time that that the Black and tans made his life and his Familys a complete misery and he applied for a job in Hyde Park London doing the same sort of work that he was in Cobh that had then been changed to Queenstown ??
He got the Job, and they all moved to london around 1924/5 and lived in Magazine Cottage Hyde Park where the Family were brought up . He Died in 1974 in Westminster London
We would be over the Moon to go backwards on this Relation as he is one of only 4 Grandparents that we all have , and i feel shortchanged for only having 3!!!
Many, many thanks for any help whatsoever on this character who I should also mention was called "Jack" Mckenna .
    Regards Mike

It is now possible to view the 1901/11 census free. Do you have any idea of his father and/or mother's name and where in north Ireland he came from? do you have the married cert?

Sorry that was a little miss leading, I meant to say the 1911/1901 Irish Census only. Link covers all Ireland:

National Archives: Census of Ireland 1901/1911
