    Hi Kay

Not sure if you know this or if it is any help...
I found a James Lashmar bp 1774 son of John & Hannah in West Grinsted. I also found him in Hamsey in 1841 /1851 along with another James, born 1801 in Twineham, married to Sarah from Shermanbury. There is also a James married to Elizabeth in Cowfold in 1810. All these places are close by each other. Could be connected, or maybe you've discounted them already.
    Regards
    Carol

Are you sure of the dates for the birth 1775 and death 1885 of James Lashmar. I can't find the death reg which might give his age -110, hence birth date. Are there other ways of spelling his name ? Last census I found him on was 1851 aged 76.

Tried Cowfold James not found there. Entered James Lashmar (ore) all England 1776 nothing came up.

    Default Lashmars

    Hi All,
Sorry about the delay in acknowledging your replies, got caught up on another problem!

noggin28, I guess he could have been born 1765 going on his age at death. James died 8th April 1855 aged 80 and is buried in the graveyard of St Peters Church Hamsey along with Elizabeth. 1841 & 51 Census ages would make his born 1775!! Elizabeth Terrell was his second wife.

iann Thank you but I've discounted the Horsted Keynes Lashmars.

Carol, the John and Hannah at West Grinstead sound very promising and worth investigating further. Did you have any more information on those two. James 1801 is his son by his forst wife Ann I have all the marriage details. It's trying to get back further from James.

Again thank you all for your help.
    Regards
    Kay

CAROL CAN YOU LET ME KNOW WHERE YOU FOUND JOHN AND HANNAH AT WEST GRINSTEAD - I DON'T SEEM ABLE TO FIND THEM. Many thanks Kay
