Smile An Islip or Bletchingdon Oxfordshire Parish Lookup required! ( A criminal's family!!)

In my family tree is a Charles Trabaud / Traband born 1829 in Islip, Oxfordshire. In 1841 he is at school so his parents aren't listed with him. He is in the Oxfordshire Gaol in 1851. Unfortunately he also manages to get my great great grandmother pregnant out of wedlock in 1847/48! Their son was an Edmund James Traband, later known as Edmund Heath. He also disappears from the census records, quite possibly leaving the Country.

I am pretty certain that Charles' mother is a Martha Warland born in Bletchingdon 1792. I suspect that the father is an Henri Trabaud/Traband born in Switzerland 1801.

I have purchased quite a few Oxfordshire parish CDs but I don't have the ones for Islip or Bletchingdon and I can't justify purchasing another 2 just to look these up!!

I would love to be able to prove who his parents are and see if he has any siblings!

Charles Francis Trabaud also goes by the name of John Francis Trabaud/Traband in the marriage banns which my great great gran managed to wriggle out of!! He vanished after the 1851 census, so whether he changes his name or leaves the country, who knows!??

    Thanks for any help!

    Neil.

That would be the chap! I have the image from the gaol. He got 8 months for Larceny!! I also have the wedding banns for him and my great great gran Mary Sabina - they have cancelled written across them!!

I have remembered a friend who has access to many of the Oxfordshire parish records so they are going to try to find John Francis for me. On the IGI, Martha Warland's father is a John Warland - another small bit of support as she called her son John also.

Frustratingly John Trabaud seems to vanish after 1850 - I would imagine that he left the country. The young boy born out of wedlock lives with his mum and his new family my great great grandfather Owen Phillips but then he vanishes as well!

We have spent hours trying to pin them down. There could be a whole set of relatives living in America or somehere else!

Sorry Noggin and Bandit, I somehow missed your posts yesterday. Everything you have posted correct! I wondered if Edmund James Heath left the country as James Heath - if so, there are some records that fit his date of birth perfectly, emmigrating to the United States. Unfortunately James Heath is a very common name and the USA records only ever quote England as place of birth and not the County.

Thanks for the posts. It should be easy to trace a "Trabaud" - I wonder if he just changed his second name. He seemed quite happy to change from John Francis to Charles Francis in the gaol!
