Thank you thank you thank you. My brick wall is as follows
THOMAS HALL GREENWAY
aka Thomas Francis Greenway
Registered as Thomas Hall Greenway, baptised 10th August 1849 as Thomas Francis Greenway.

A retail brewer living at 19 Mount Street, Duddeston Aston in July 1876 when registering son Lewis Howard Frank's birth and in September 1877 working as a beer seller when registering son Lionel Cyril's birth.
Called licensed victualler when daughter Lena's birth at Cleveland Street Wolverhampton, was registered by wife in July 1878 and that of Son Alphonso in January 1880.
No sign of him on 1881 census but his wife calling herself married and living with her sister at 43 Alma Crescent Aston. Called Thomas Francis Hall Greenway, retired licensed Victualler, when wife registered son Michael's birth at Alma Crescent in June 1881.
Allegedly deceased by 1891 census, as his wife was calling herself widowed. Manufacturer (deceased) according to son's marriage certificate in 1892. Named as Francis William Greenway deceased, retired publican on wifes death certificate in 1922 - probably an error, as registration was done by daughter-in-law, who presumably never knew him.
Following information supplied family memeber (now deceased)
Thomas was a Licensed Victualler. He emigrated to Canada taking his two sons with him, leaving his wife Agnes to look after their daughter and run a pub in Halesown. Whilst in Ontario Canada, Thomas died. His two sons were put into an orphanage but were later adopted, taking the name of Greenway Mallory (Malloy). This information has to be followed up as of the boys were taken to Canada under the Home Scheme - I think I have found the children
'Around the end of 1880 beginning of 1881 Agnes was with her six children in Wolverhampton, pregnant again and abandoned by Frank. Her parents were already dead so she moved in with her eldest sister Sophia at Aston with her eldest son, Ernest aged 9 who would have been able to work and her only surviving daughter Lena aged 2. The other four boys she was forced to put into the workhouse at Wolverhampton. The 1881 census of Wolverhampton shows:-
Alfred Greenaway, aged 5 born Wolverhampton.
Howard Greenaway aged 6 born Wolverhamton.
Cyril Greenaway aged 3 born Wolverhampton.
Alphonso Greenaway aged 1 born Wolverhampton.
Mis-spelling of surnames, ages slightly askew and only Alphonso actually born in Wolverhampton.
Cyril was reunited with his mother by the 1891 census, though under the name of Newey (he could have spent some time with Ellen Newey as her 'son'.
Have found information on irish website!!! his brother possibly went to Argentina, did Frank follow??
It would be wonderful if I could find him and then 'get him out of my head'
Many thanks.![]()
