German or Polish surname - how to spell it!

I'm helping someone locate their grandmother, who was apparently of German descent, born in NZ, and has a surname that is spelt phonetically like this: War-shleka. It sounds sort of Polish to me. I've been looking online all evening and tried different variations. Does anyone want to have a go how it might really be spelt?
VicNZ, Is there any further information you can supply in regards to Grandmas first name and when she was born..Did your friend not supply you with any certificates that might help with this surname? What about Grandparents Marriage Cert? Birth Certs confirm Mothers maiden name so maybe order the birth Cert for the right parent whose Mother this was and the surname will be recorded. Surnames are more easily identified origins when you have the exact spelling..

Hi, her Grandma's name was changed to McLeod, as she was living in the south island of NZ amongst other Scottish settlers. So on her marriage cert she has this name. It is only by family oral history that her grandaughter knows her name was originally this other surname. Her first names are Rebecca Catharina. thanks.
Possibly Warzecha, which has both Silesian and Prussian origins, Vic?

I agree with Finbar. I would have gone for Warzecha as well as the most likely.
