My Grandfather Edward Hale/s,married Mary Ann Arnell in Sept. 1892(1b502) in Islington Parish Church, He was born about 18 57, on the marriage certificate he has given the name of his father as Alfred.
Can anyone help me find the birth place of Edward and or any information on Alfred

Do you have the birth cert of your grandfather? this will tell you where he was born and also Fathjer's occupation, and Mother's maiden name. Once you have this info you will then be able to go back a bit further.

Thank you for your researches, unfortunately I do not think that this can be the Edward that I am looking for.
I have obtained the death certificate for him and it is recorded that he died in Jan. 1907 age 50 years
which would make his year of birth about 1857.(always assuming that he declared hs right age to his wife) I have found a few examples of suspect information .

I do have a copy of the marriage licence, you have found the right family, I have hit a brick wall when I look for further information on Edward and his father. I think that the occupation given was generally a description of the kind of work that they were doing at the time, Unskilled !

There is an Alfred Hale in the 1881 census who is a mason, aged 46, living at 10 Grove Place, Brompton, Kensington, born in Bradford Lancs.
He is married to Jane M. Hale, aged 44, born Deal, Kent.

Hello again, I have just found a marriage record for the above Alfred Hale to Jane Margaret Wilds, but he is a bachelor at time of marriage in 1875, so I don't think he can be your Edward's father, despite being a mason!
Edit: afterthought - being unmarried in 1857 would not preclude him from being Edward's father. Still might be worth thinking about.
