Can anyone help me track down what happened to an ancestor?
She was called Ann Naylor, born about 1827 in Haydock, the daughter of the blacksmith John Naylor and his wife Ann. In 1851 she was living in Haydock with her parents and some of her siblings:
HO107; Piece: 2202; Folio: 6; Page: 4
Civil parish: Haydock
Ecclesiastical parish: Ashton in Makerfield St Thomas
Name Age
John Naylor 68 b c 1783 blacksmith head married b Newton
Ann Naylor 48 wife b c 1803 Burtonwood, Lancs school teacher
Ann Naylor 23 daughter, b c1828 Haydock, smiths daughter
John Naylor 17 son b c 1834 Haydock, smith
William Naylor 12 son b c 1839 Haydock, scholar
At the time she must have been pregnant with her son Edwin, who was born later that year. He was illegitimate and we have never been able to find the name of his father, only that 'she was badly let down'. Her son stayed in the local area for the rest of his life, but after 1851 we have not been able to find any trace of Ann at all. If anyone has any ideas where elseo look it would be great. Thanks.
