What a great idea, thank you so much. I have 2 brick walls but maybe you will only deal with one? Firstly is Billington, the name of my great grandmother, Emma Selina ( her name on her marriage certificate)she was married in 1880 aged 23 to Joseph Mark Perkins. The certificate also states that she was born in Bethnal Green in 1858 and her father, John was a Cab proprietor. I cannot find any more proof of her. The family story ( from my grandmother)was that her mother died when she was 12 and she was then put into a home because her father didn't feel he could look after her. At 14 she was put into service and eventually "adopted" by a 'lady' who took in girls so they would be safe. She worked there until she married. There are also stories of a Welsh great grandmother and a relationship to a hangman ( Billington? )
Now during my research I have leanred that thewre was indeed a hangman named billington but the Welsh side??? I heard my great Aunt talk of the names Kennedy and griffiths , very difficult with so many.
The other name is Samuel Christopher Perkins which seems to have been a family name because before Joseph was Samuel, born in 1852 and Samuel born in 1827 and his father born around 1786. The 1786 S C perkins I would like to trace . All were Coppersmiths and indented the eldest boy to the same trade, possibly other chidren too for they all seemed to be in the metal trade, but where did they originate from?
I would be grateful for light on any of these names . Thank you again
