    Default Harcourt family

Can you help trace my great grandfather Alfred Ebenezer Harcourt, the info I have so far is he had a son named Ebenezer James born around 1879 but when he was married in 1900 to Maud Amelia Britannia Gale at St. Philips church, sheffield, Alfred Ebenezer was listed as deceased. I know that most of the family came from the Ecclesall area of sheffield.
I know this is not much info to go on but anything would be appreciated.

I am assuming to have the details listed in your post you have the marriage cert. What was the occupation of Alfred Ebenezer ? does it not state the age of the bride and groom. I cannot find a Ebenezer James born around 1879. I did find one born in Bradford in 1860 father James. have you any more info that might help?

    Hello

Ebenezer James HARCOURT died 1937 Bradford aged 59 giving YoB 1878
1911 census have you found ?, ( we are not permitted to do 1911 lookups on Ancestryaid for copyright reasons)
On the 1901 census RG13 4366 12 15 he is shown as 22 Yob 1879 this shows his place of birth as St Helens Lancashire
Marriage 1900 aged 21 Yob 1879 who are the witnesses?

    Red Herring
The only Alfred HARCOURT in Sheffiled that I can find who would fit the age etc for Ebenzer James father is one who married an Isabella
BURRIDGE in 1879. according to the census she brings children into the marriage

Ebenezer James died on the 28th Dec 1937, as to his birth there are two possibilities, one was St. Helen's and the other was Oldbury, Worcestershire,
the witnesses at the wedding were Maud Shepherd or Shephard and Annie Auty. the miltary records I was able to check also did not give a date of birth or parents,
On the 1911 census he was listed as living in Bradford, also listed was my dad and various other siblings and a Frederick age 25 so presume he was Ebenezer's brother a Mrs Isabella age 65 district listed was Sheffield.
I had also seen the marriag of Isabella and Alfred that would put them getting married the same year as Ebenezer was born, I have a Alfred on the 1871 Candian Cenus occupation listed as Printer which I believe is the same as Compositor.
Do you have access to Military records as I have the army numbers of Ebenezer.
Don't know if this will help or not but would appreciate any in

    Thanks
    Margaret

No I do not think so

Frederick HARCOURT b 1851 Cheltenham an Army Pensioner and living on his own means married Euphemia CHAPMAN 1885 Barton in Irewell
Frederick HARCOURT was born 1886 Barton in Irwell ( the registration district for Patricroft) mother and son can be found on the 1891 census with her parents and 1901 again with her parents and the 2 frederick's

I cannot find a birth for Ebenezer James HARCOURT in the Lancashire area around 1879, the Oldury one appears with another wife, so cannot be the one you are looking for,

Maybe the only way is to consider the marriage to Isabella
