Thread: A very frustrating Brick Wall

Hi, I haven't posted for a while, sorry about that. My brick wall is an Hungarian side of my family. I have been to Kew, Guildhall and nothing, there is no record of his trip over from Hungary with his father. He married in 1845 to an english lady called Susannah Maria Price. He was a fur trader/dealer. His name is Charles Olah and he was born in the early 1800's I have his marriage, death but no birth certificate. He set up business here in the UK, Found that in the directories.
I have tried contacting the records office in Hungary but without a place of birth they can do nothing. All i want to know is to find out his place of birth, any ideas would be lovely.
I am planning on going to the Guildhall again soon to do a bit more research on him and also on his wife's father and he was a Surgeon.

What is his father's name and occupation? Where does Charles say he was born - just Hungary? How do you know he came over with his fathe

If he's the Charles Olah on 1881 census working as a furrier, he was born 1811ish.

His marriage record says that his fathers name was Daniel and that he was a gentleman/master furer. It just says that Charles was born in Hungary. Just a wild guess that he may of come over with his father. Got no records of them coming over but Kew said that it wasn't always recorded but there must be ship records somehere.
Yes that is the date that i have for charles. I also have his copy of his Will as well as few other things its just the Place of birth in Hungary and his birth certificate that i dont have.

Yea i guess they have changed a great deal over the year. His dads name was Daniel Olah, whitness was her side of the family as well as very hard to spell surname of John Andreikorit which is near an Hungarian name i think or a country nearby.
Tried researching that name but nothing i may have the spelling wrong. thanks
