Thread: Winifred Francis Dodd born 13 Aug 1900, Edmonton, Middx

Hi everyone,

I cannot find what happened to her after mother Annie died in 1902, father John could not cope, so children either adopted or sent as "Home Children" to Canada (am in touch with a relative there).

I have the family living at 12 Sandal Rd, Edmonton in 1901 Census, in 1911 Winifred Dod (only one D) was living as niece with Durant family in Edmonton. This family were only related by marriage so she was not really niece but I suppose easier to describe as that.

Have searched and searched for marriages - have several wrong marriage certs - to Curry 1920, Wilkins 1928, Harvie 1936 have looked at deaths, also on emigration records but no luck. Durant family moved to Bournemouth in 1918 and have looked at electoral registers for that address but she is not there.

Any help would be appreciated, have run out of ideas

I know this is a long shot – but thought I would throw it in to the mix for you.

Searching just on the birth date in the UK Death Index – I found the following entry:-

Name: Winifred Cutler
Birth Date: 13 Aug 1900
Death Registration Month/Year: Nov 1984
Age at death (estimated): 84
Registration district: Central Cleveland
Inferred County: Cleveland Volume: 3 Page: 2458

Could this be Winifred’s marriage
