Exclamation Genseeker - Helen (or possibly Ellen)

    Hi
I am really stuck with one of my ancestors and hope some kind person may be able to help me with this, i will give you what details i have ....

My gt grandfather was Michael Rooney, born in Preston lancashire in 1839, his father Thomas Rooney is who i am stuck on...I looked up Michaels baptism (looks like his birth was never registered), and on it it states his father was Thomas Rooney and his mother was Helen (no surname given for helen),
I cannot find any info at all on Helen (or possibly ellen), i have been through endless records in the records office in preston but to no avail!
I looked through all the 1841 census for Michael Rooneys, and found only one which must be him details attached on census info, I am wanting to know if michaels parents ever married, thomas rooney died of typhus in 1840, and looking at the census info it looks like michael lived with a family of magees, i have wondered if the ellen magee on the census is michaels mother? cannot find any info anywhere on a thomas rooney and ellen marrying, any help on this would be great.
    Thank you for your time
    Bernadette

    Default Hello Bernadette

I think we need a lot more information to help you further, I have had a good look at the 1841 census and there are a number of Michael Rooney's living with other families.

You say that you looked up Michael's baptism, where did you find this and how did you know it was him without a birth certificate?

Can you work back for us, maybe from the 1901 census, the line that ties you to Michael.

No mention of living folk please.

Really want to help, please get back to us.

Hi amnd sorry for the delay in replying to this.
This is the correct Michael, everyhting fits in with his birth date est, and place of birth, I found michaels baptism in the lancashire records office, my father had told me thst Michaels fatehr was thomas and he thinks he could of come from ireland although he wasnt sure.
I have looked for this michael on other census, and only have him on 1841, and then after he was married , so have him on 1871, 1881 and 1891.
    Thnak you
    Bernadette
