Thread: Helen Sommerville

Hi,

i wonder if anyone can help me find my gt,gt granmother. Her name was Helen sommerville and all i know about her is that she was born in England aroungd 1853 and her parents were John Sommerville and Isabella Ferguson.

Helen married Andrew Robertson on 18/3/1872 when she was 19yrs in Scotland but i have no information about her before this date.

Is anyone able to help me out a bit and by possibly searching the records for england and/or the census records to give some information about her and her parents

Not sure if this is the right couple but there is an Andrew Robertson 34yrs at his brothers house down as (brother to head of house) & a Helen Robertson 29yrs (sister in law) -address 1 Morville place, Birmingham Warwickshire, Andrew born in Scotland & Helen born in London Middlesex.
It's a start anyway. I will now have a look for a Helen in London in 1861 &1871.

What is census reference number....?

I have also found a John Sommerville, 29yrs, Isabella Somerville 30yrs, Child Sommervile aged 7yrs, and Isabellas mother Mary Gibson on the 1861 census living in Lanarkshire. I think maybe the child could be Helen because the age would be about right.

On the 1881 scottish Census Helen gives her place of birth as England so i can only assume this is where she was born.

i think this may be her, do they give their place of birth?
In the 1881 census she gives her place of birth as England which is why i assume she comes from England. Also, do you have a copy of the census that you could maybe send me or are you able to confirm the place of birth for the family and their names as this would really help with my research.
I am keen to learn about this sideof my family as i have been told that they may have been mixed race however, this information may not be recorded anywhere although it may also simply be a 'story' created to make my ancetors appear more interesting!
