    Default Help with The Tonkins Buryan/St Ives

    Am trying to progress the family tree.

    I know that Martha Tonkin was born in 1837, St Buryan - Married Charles Hood in 1862
    Thomas Tonkin was her Father at the time listed as a Brewer, One of the witnesses was another Thomas Tonkin.

    The area seems littered with Tonlins and I am struggling to piece the right ones together.

    There was another Thomas Tonkin listed in Buryan as a farmer

    There is a will from Thomas Tonkin died 1831 from Buryan that mentions Thomas his son

    Anyone care to try and unravel some Tonkins!

    Thomas's occupation could have "progressed" with time! Here he's an ag labourer here but this is the only likely Martha I can find -

    This looks like the right Martha - The younger children are in St Ives where he is listed as a brewer
    so that gives me a Thomas Tonkin born in St Levan around 1807, and a wife called Christana

    Okay now getting confused! - Could Thomas be all 3? Agricultural Labourer (1817) Miner (1829)and a Brewer in 1862! - Need to track Christiana and check her by date of birth I Guess

    Tracked down Thomas's dad ro James Tonkin known as Jemmy - Finding it impossible to work out his parents though there are 3 James Tonkins in the area around the right date ab 1748 he married Martha Jelbart 1772-1828 Martha's genealogy isn't bad to trace but Jemmy has me totally stumped. Does anyone have any ideas?
