Default Can I have your help with Ellen Selina Carr Please.

Hi all, I am hoping to get to the bottom of this puzzle with the help of you great lot on the site.
So would you please help me?
Here is what I am after.

Ellen Selina Carr baptised 9th April 1824 ...father Richard..mother Sarah.

Ellen Selina Carr married Thomas Dell 23rd February 1846 in Headington Oxfordshire.

Ellen Selina Carr married Robert McClelland 6th February 1865 on the marriage certificate it says Ellen Selina was a spinster, she died in 1886 in St Olave.

I have found Ellen and Thomas Dell in the 1851 census but I am unable to find Ellen after this..untill she turns up in the 1871 with Robert.

Did she ever divorce Thomas ? Why would she put spinster down when she married Robert McClelland? Was there any children born to Ellen Selina?I cant find any!!

Can anyone fathom this one out please? Your help would be much appreciated.

    Regards
    Lincs Lady

On the free BMD site there is a death for aThomas Dell in June qr 1851 also a birth for a Henry Dell at Headington in Mar qr 1848 this could possibly be a son though I am not sure why she classed herself as spinster & not Widow, perhaps she didn't want her future husband to know she had been married before. - but if that was the case where was the child if there was one?

Thank you pejay for your help. When she married Robert McClelland she would have been 41 years old and there were no children born to them.
Robert already had 2 daughters Caroline born 1862 and Harriett born 1864 the first wife died within days of Harriets birth. But the Caroline has always been a mystery,I can find no birth for her, although I think she was the first wife's daughter I have often wondered if Ellen brought her with her.
The Henry you found is a new one on me I must look and see if he could be Ellen Selina's son.

    Your time is much appreciated.

    Class: RG9; Piece: 746; Folio: 45; Page: 14;

I know its not what you wanted but i couldnt find Ellen Selina in 1861 c apart from the same one as Elsabels as above on her previous post Ellen Laundress but found Thomas and hes married and still coachbuilding ! no mention of children

    Noticed on familysearch.org prefix www.
Eliza Selina Carr married Thomas Dell 23 feb 1846 Saint Giles Oxford .
Maybe another search under this name will bring more results ?

Hi Lincs Lady and all those that have helped with this one,
The thing is that on one of the census from memory I think its 1861 Thomas Dell is down as widow..I also have wondered if Ellen Dell down as Laundress for 1861 was infact Ellen Carr? Bit of a come down in rank as she was the daughter of wealthy parents but its possible and I do believe its her..No divorce has ever been found for Ellen to Thomas Dell and no birth or Baptism for Caroline..Also very strange how we have all of her siblings births from 1852 to 1864 but not Carolines who was born about 1861/62.

Many thanks, to Elsabels ,Gillian and Hazlenut for looking for me, you all have the right family for me,But I seem so stuck with this Carr lady and Caroline McClelland....Caroline was born inbetween the census being taken( about 1862),and then appears in 1871 with Ellen and Robert McClelland as daughter to both of them.As I said I know Harriet (1864) was a true McClelland as I have her birth certificate But Caroline ??????

Thank you Marion for your input....I know we are both so puzzled!!!
