Hello, I also have family from Hetton le Hole, I found these sites very useful, I won't post links because of copyright issues, but a google will work.

Durham records on line - pay per view, very reasonable costs.

Family search. org - go to record search pilot, browse all records, click europe, then UK, scroll right down to the bottom, bishops transcripts and all sorts of bits, for the Durham area, not indexed but fun to search.

If your family were involved in the mining industry and it is likely, this site is a good read, I think I can safely link to this.

    Durham Mining Museum

    Good luck with your research.

    Hi All,
Thank you for the advice, I will try Durham Records, and see what I can come up with. Reference the Coal Mining Records, they also could be a great help, as most all of the male members of my family including myself have at some stage been employed in the Coal Mining Industry.
    Thanks to all.

    Hi Bandit,
Thanks for that, I have Joseph Watts, Born Murton Colliery 08/02/1853. Married Houghton Le Spring 06/07/1878 to Alice Jane Harrison , Died Hetton Le Hole 18/11/1931
. He was my great grandfather paternal. His birth certificate states his father to be Robert Watts, and his mother to be Ann Simpson. I believe I may be looking towards parish records in order to trace these two as they don't seem to appear in the 1837 BDMs.
William John Harvey, my great grandfather maternal. I have a Marriage certificate dated 01/09/1900. He married Mary Jane Thompson, both from Murton Colliery, however I am struggling to find. Births and deaths for either of them.
    Many thanks for your help.
    Regards.
