Blacksmith/farriers

The wifes grandfather worked in the Miidland Railway Goods Dept in Bristol at the begining of the last century as a blacksmith/farrier.
I cannot find any records of staff employed as blacksmith/farriers in the staff record books of the Midland Railway or GWR.
Can any body help me out
