Thread: Thompson family London and Scotland

Janet Thompson married JohnCraig in 1975 in Glasgow. They moved to Manchester later.
On 1881 census she is stated as being born 'at sea' Her brother was born in London.
Her parents were John Thompson a taylor (dead by 1975) and Catherine (nee McCurley)

I would like to know where Janet was born and where her mother and father came from I suspect mother was Irish.

John Craig ......was born 1850/55 in Glasgow and I can't find his birth either.
He was son of David and Helen (nee Smith)

by the 1881 census john was born in in 1853 in glasgow lanarkshire

his dad is William Craig Estimated birth year: abt 1827, Where born: Pollokshaws, Renfrewshire

his mam was Mary Estimated birth year: abt 1826 same birth place as dad

this is on the 1861 census

on his marriage certificate it says his dad is David and Mum Helen nee Smith...... and I've located him on several census before that with David and Helen
I wonder if there is a family connection with William Craig and Mary.

yes it is so that clearly says Janet was born in Lambeth now to find her birth
