Thread: Hirst in West Yorkshire

My gt gt grandfather William Hirst was born in Lindley (Huddersfield) in1804/05. By the time of the 1841 census he was living in Leeds with wife Ann & 3 children - Sarah, Emma & George.
I would like to know
1 When/where he was married
2 His wife Ann's maiden name
3 Anything about the ancestry of William and /or Ann.

On the 1841 Census record to which you refer, William and family are living with a Jane Haigh aged 70 and next door to Robert Haigh 65 – Gardener & Mary Haigh 75.

So this marriage record on IGI is a strong contender for your William and Ann.

Thanks. Sorry for delay but I've only today seen your reply - I put the request out last year & then forgot to check for any reply! I'm sure it is the "right "William & Ann Hirst -all the names fit with info I already had. Now I need to find out when/why William Hirst left his birthplace (Lindley, Huddersfield) & moved to Leeds.
